The U.S. Commercial Service has organized a Webinar Series focused on business opportunities in Latin America for Women-Owned Businesses (Panamá, Colombia, and Costa Rica).  U.S. exports to Panama, Colombia, and Costa Rica totaled $41.2 Billion in 2022.

Senior International Trade Specialist @ Multilateral & Strategic Initiatives Team Office of Western Hemisphere U.S. Department of Commerce

Sara Hagigh brings 27 years’ experience as a team leader and senior international trade specialist at the U.S Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration (ITA). Sara has worked in industry and regional offices, including Europe, China and the Western Hemisphere.  In each position, Sara has assisted U.S. small-medium business to export in growing markets overseas.

Sara has tackled several issues impacting U.S. small business exporting throughout the Western Hemisphere – from Canada to Chile.  Examples include digital and 5G wireless communication, where Sara developed a 5G strategy to increase U.S. industry presence in wireless and digital markets. Currently, Sara is helping U.S. women-owned small business grow exports in the Western Hemisphere, as part of the Administration DEIA priority. ITA’s program is the “Global Diversity Export Initiative” (GDEI), assisting under-served communities  grow their business internationally.  Sara is co-leading the first-ever trade mission targeting U.S. women small businesses, which will travel to Panama, Costa Rica and Colombia March 10-15, 2024.

Previously, Sara served as Deputy Director in the Office of North America and the Office of China and Mongolia, leading high-performing teams assisting small-medium-business export to Canada and Mexico, and resolving barriers facing U.S. business exporting to China. Sara served in ITA’s Service Industries and Europe Offices and was a trade advisor to United States Senator Joseph Lieberman in 2004 as a Brookings LEGIS fellow.

Prior to government service, Sara practiced law with Baker & McKenzie and Hogan & Hartson and also worked at McKinsey & Company

Lisa White joined the Foreign Commercial Service (FCS) in 2020 and is currently Commercial Attaché at U.S. Embassy Bogota. She manages a team of five Foreign Service Nationals and oversees a portfolio that includes infrastructure, construction, ports, energy, mines, environment, agricultural machinery, education, travel and tourism, and SelectUSA. Her prior posting was at the U.S. Export Assistance Center in Seattle where she advised Washington businesses on how to grow international sales and developed special programs to accelerate women-owned businesses. Lisa has more than 15 years of combined federal service with experience at three previous agencies. Previous roles include the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) where she worked as an Economic Development Specialist and Public Information Officer, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) where she worked as an Immigration Services Officer, and the U.S. Peace Corps where she worked as a Regional Recruiter. Prior to that, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guinea and Mali in West Africa where she supported small business development and developed French proficiency. Lisa graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a BS in Business Administration with a focus on marketing and communications. She is accompanied by her husband, Jeremy and their Mainecoon cat, Loki.

Originally from Santiago, Chile, Andrea has lived in 11 cities and is thrilled to call Miami her permanent home. After a successful career in real estate and banking, working for companies based in Latin America, the US, UK, and Asia, Andrea moved to Miami to be closer to family. Together with her brother she started her first business, Cid Botanicals. In 2016 the family purchased Concept II Cosmetics, a bath and body manufacturer in Doral. Seeing a gap in the market for product development and manufacturing, Andrea launched Miami Growth Machine, a manufacturing incubator for CPG start-ups. Working with entrepreneurs, Andrea is passionate about building an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem in Miami, where founders of all backgrounds can thrive. Andrea has a degree in Economics from Harvard College and an MBA from The Wharton School.  She is a founding member of the South Florida Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs.

As a respected thought leader in the IT Industry, Dr. Fraser-Moore's insights have graced pages of prominent publications like Forbes, USA Today, New York Newsday, and Black Enterprise Magazine. Her academic background is equally impressive, holding a Doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California. Her dissertation, titled “Bridging the Gap of Gender Equity in Entrepreneurship,” highlights her commitment to social issues. 

Outside her professional sphere, Dr. Fraser-Moore is a committed family woman and a mother. Her philanthropic work is notable, especially her efforts in advancing underserved communities' workforce initiatives and advocating for gender equity and diversity. She has been honored with prestigious awards, including the Presidential Service Award from President Barack Obama in 2016, the International Woman of Excellence Award in 2019, and the Advancing Women in Technology Award in 2022. Furthermore, her influence extends through her active participation on various boards and advisory councils. 

Her work in the tech industry, her dedication to societal betterment, and her role in leading a global company with a Global presence make her a unique and influential presence in the tech world and beyond.

State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) National Director @ U.S. Small Business Administration

Shadetra Robinson is the Director of the State Trade Expansion 
Program (STEP), which provides over $20 million dollars to 
competing states. STEP is housed in the Small Business 
Administration’s Office of International Trade, whose mission is 
to enhance the ability of small businesses to compete in the 
global marketplace. As the STEP Director, she is responsible for 
managing all participating states and territories in this national 
program. Her efforts streamlined STEP processes, ensuring the 
program grows and benefits all American small businesses. 
Shadetra joined the Office of International Trade in May 2011 after serving with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for five years. She earned a master’s in educational psychology from Howard University (Washington, D.C.). Prior to becoming a federal employee, Shadetra provided counseling services to agencies within the metropolitan area for over 20 years, specializing in youth and adult services. She was a social worker with the District of Columbia Department of Health and an educator for the special education
population in Maryland public schools, where she provided a wide range of services for students and adults with developmental disabilities.
