General Information


The United States is the leading trade and economic partner for Honduras and El Salvador, making both countries highly receptive markets for U.S. products and services.

Honduras is the 4th largest economy in Central America with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of $37 billion in 2024. Total bilateral trade in goods and services with the U.S. was $12.6 billion in 2024, with a trade surplus of $1.5 billion in favor of the United States.

El Salvador is the 5th largest economy in Central America with a GDP of $35.3 billion in 2024, up from $34 billion the prior year. Total bilateral trade in goods and services with the U.S. was $6.8 billion in 2024, with a trade surplus of $2.2 billion in favor of the United States.

Kenneth C. Duckworth is Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in El Salvador.  Prior to coming to El Salvador, he was Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. 

Mr. Duckworth’s Foreign Service career includes assignments to U.S. embassies and consulates in Russia, Ukraine, Ethiopia, Kenya, Korea, Poland, Mexico and El Salvador. 

Prior to joining the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service, Mr. Duckworth proudly served as a Democracy and Governance Advisor and Program Officer for the U.S. Agency for International Development. 

Mr. Duckworth, a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, holds a B.A. in Political Science from the George Washington University, Washington, D.C. and a Master’s degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He speaks fluent Russian, Ukrainian, Polish and Spanish.

Reinaldo Garcia is a Commercial Officer with the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service, part of the U.S. Department of Commerce. He currently serves as the Senior Commercial Officer and Commercial Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Previously, he was a member of the Multilateral & Strategic Initiatives Team in the Office of Western Hemisphere Affairs in Washington, D.C. Reinaldo has also held the position of Deputy Director of the SelectUSA Investment Services Team and has served in Guangzhou, China. Before joining the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service, he worked for several years as the General Counsel for Latin America at a major U.S. real estate franchise company.
