Speakers

Jeff White

Partner, Robinson+Cole

Jeff White provides counseling and dispute resolution advice for manufacturers and distributors throughout the United States and globally. He leads the firm's Manufacturing Industry Team, which has been described by media outlets as ”one of the top manufacturing law practices” in the United States, as well as the Aerospace Supply Chain Team.

Jeff is a leader within the manufacturing community and has been invited to speak at The White House, U.S. Department of Commerce events, and manufacturing industry events across the country. He has been appointed to committees supporting U.S. commerce by both Republican and Democratic Presidential administrations. In 2022, he was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and U.S. Trade Representative to serve on the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Aerospace Equipment.

Jeff supports advanced manufacturing initiatives, including serving as a mentor for the Stanley Black & Decker/Techstars program, and has served as a lecturer at the University of Connecticut School of Business. In 2013, he created and launched the widely read Manufacturing Law Blog, which was the first blog in the country to address legal issues facing manufacturers and distributors. He has offered legal commentary for publications such as PolitcoIndustryWeek, and Aviation Week, among others.

John Cordani

Partner, Robinson+Cole

John Cordani is a Co-chair of the firm's Intellectual Property + Technology Group and member of the Business Litigation Group, who focuses his practice on Intellectual Property litigation. He has litigated patent, trade secret, trademark, and antitrust cases through trial and appeal in federal courts across the United States, obtaining successful results in cases involving a diverse array of technology from specialty chemical products to automated pitching machines. 

John maintains a world-wide patent litigation, prosecution, licensing and counseling practice. He is a registered patent attorney with extensive experience before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in document-intensive and scientific disputes. 

John handles all phases of the patent litigation process, including claim construction, summary judgment, trials, and appeals in infringement matters. He has also tried complex commercial litigations, products liability cases, and land use matters through verdict and appeal.

John is a contributor to the firm's Manufacturing Law Blog.

Prior to attending Cornell Law School, where he was the salutatorian of his class, John worked as a chemist, and is a named inventor on multiple patents covering aspects of his research. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he teaches a course on Patent Litigation and Strategy, and serves as the co-chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section. He has also served as a Special Public Defender in a pro bono capacity providing representation for indigent defendants in criminal matters.

Kyle Hepner

Counsel, Robinson+Cole

Kyle Hepner represents clients in a broad range of areas concerning Intellectual Property, with a practice focus on patent litigation, Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings, and building and managing U.S. and international patent portfolios. Kyle also has a strong background in patent landscape and risk analysis. His experience includes successful outcomes in patent and trademark district court litigation, Federal Circuit appeals, and PTAB proceedings. He advises clients on the emerging Intellectual Property issues and offers critical insights and experience in a range of areas, including mechanical and electromechanical devices, blockchain and NFT technology, manufacturing systems and methods, smart home and smart grid system, vehicle sensor diagnostics and control systems, and designs. Kyle is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property + Technology Group.

Prior to joining Robinson+Cole, Kyle worked at intellectual property law firms in the Washington, D.C. area handling a range of litigation, domestic, and international patent prosecution, and portfolio management. Before starting his legal practice, Kyle worked as a patent searcher, with emphasis in the areas of patentability, infringement, clearance, and validity searches. He has also done research into nanotechnology and computer-integrated manufacturing.
