Brazil is the largest healthcare market in Latin America, with Brazil’s Unified Healthcare System (SUS) acting as the sole provider of health services to approximately 72% of the population. There are many opportunities for U.S. medical device and healthcare technologies companies as Brazil spends approximately $161 billion on healthcare and the U.S. remains the top importer.

The market size for medical equipment in 2022 was approximately US$12.1 billion, and in 2023 the Ministry of Health announced an investment of US$200 million for the digitalization of the SUS.
