U.S. - China Healthcare and Life Sciences Forum

Mr. Grant Harris, Assistant Secretary for Industry and Analysis at the U.S. Department of Commerce will visit Shanghai from May 23 to 24, 2024. The primary purpose of his visit is to engage with Chinese partners and interlocutors on healthcare sector areas which Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago and Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen underscored as key opportunities for expanding the U.S.-China trade and investment relationship during the inaugural Commercial Issues Working Group meeting on April 4, 2024 in Alexandria, Virigina. To this end, Assistant Secretary Harris would like to convene relevant Chinese government officials, Chinese healthcare providers and U.S. companies on May 24 to learn about Chinese and U.S. government priorities in this area, gain industry insights, and ultimately identify specific opportunities for increased collaboration in healthcare and life sciences sector.

           CS Shanghai is working with Shanghai Municipality Government and relevant government departments such as the Shanghai health Commission, Shanghai Healthcare Security Administration, Shanghai Medical Products Administration and Shanghai Hospital Development Center to organize a healthcare and life sciences forum in Shanghai on May 24, 2024.

           This event aims to reestablish and strengthen relationship and collaboration with Shanghai municipal leaders, health authorities and hospital management and focuses on celebrating and identifying areas of collaboration in healthcare and life sciences sectors.  At the forum, CS Shanghai plans to invite leaders from local health authorities to provide keynote speeches on their priorities and initiatives in the areas of healthcare innovation ecosystem development, medical and healthcare insurance, medical product’s registration and high-quality care and innovation medical solution etc.  U.S. companies will be able to showcase U.S. industry leadership and expertise in high-quality innovation and public health and communicate with key sub-national policy/decision-making officials through networking and panel discussion activities.
